A law firm is seeking an experienced Trust & Estate Associate to join its Taxation and Wealth Planning Department in Atlanta. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who combines strong technical knowledge with thoughtful, personalized client service.
You will help clients protect their wealth and achieve long-term planning goals through strategies that account for evolving tax laws, family dynamics, and fiduciary responsibilities.
Your responsibilities
- Advise high-net-worth individuals, families, and trustees on estate planning and wealth transfer strategies.
- Develop and implement advanced planning techniques, including gift tax planning, charitable giving, irrevocable gifting trusts, and the use of federal and state tax exemptions and exclusions.
- Draft and review wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents.
- Counsel trustees and executors on trust and estate administration, including their fiduciary duties.
- Guide clients and fiduciaries through intestacy laws and estate administration procedures.
- Manage complex matters independently while collaborating with colleagues to deliver responsive client service.
What you bring
- A Juris Doctor degree and an active license to practice law in Georgia.
- Five to seven years of relevant trusts and estates experience.
- Strong knowledge of gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax regimes.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and client communication skills.
- The ability to manage complex matters with sound judgment and attention to detail.
- A client-focused approach grounded in professionalism and discretion.
Work environment
This position operates in an office setting and involves regular use of computers, telephones, printers, and other standard office equipment. Duties are primarily sedentary, with occasional standing, walking, and moving items weighing up to 10 pounds.
