Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Pay: Starting at $29.00 per hour, plus applicable federal-contract health-and-welfare benefits

Support the Public Lands and Records That Matter
J&R Ross Agency is seeking a detail-oriented Administrative and Technical Support Specialist to support the Bureau of Land Management’s Idaho State Office in Boise.
This position combines customer service, public-records research, financial transaction processing, document review, data management, and general administrative support. The successful candidate will assist members of the public and BLM personnel with accessing land, mineral, mining-claim, patent, and case-file information while helping maintain accurate records and accountable financial processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an administrative professional with experience in government services, title and escrow, public records, banking, legal services, land management, permitting, or another highly regulated environment.
What You’ll Do Customer and Public Support
- Assist walk-in customers and respond to telephone, email, and mailed inquiries.
- Help customers and BLM personnel locate land, mineral, mining-claim, patent, and case-file records.
- Explain routine processes, forms, records-retrieval procedures, and available information resources.
- Provide professional service when handling complex questions or difficult customer interactions.
- Refer technical, legal, or policy questions to the appropriate BLM specialist.
Financial and Payment Processing
- Receive and process cash, checks, credit-card payments, fees, and other monetary transactions.
- Examine payments and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Issue receipts, balance daily transactions, and resolve routine discrepancies.
- Maintain appropriate custody, accountability, and security over Government funds and financial information.
- Follow all required collection, reconciliation, and internal-control procedures.
Records and Data Management
- Create, organize, image, update, retrieve, and maintain official land, mineral, mining, and administrative records.
- Review forms, applications, and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and procedural compliance.
- Enter, update, track, and validate information in electronic databases and records systems.
- Identify incomplete or inaccurate information and make authorized corrections.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files.
- Protect personally identifiable, financial, and other sensitive information.
Administrative Support
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, information packages, spreadsheets, and workload summaries.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, overnight deliveries, electronic correspondence, print orders, and receipt documentation.
- Track assignments, deadlines, work priorities, and completed work.
- Support quality-control reviews and ensure deliverables are accurate and timely.
- Recommend practical improvements to records, collection, accounting, and administrative procedures.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of relevant administrative, records, customer-service, legal, banking, title, escrow, government, permitting, or financial-processing experience.
- Experience serving customers in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence.
- Experience processing accountable transactions such as cash, checks, credit cards, fees, escrow payments, or public-service payments.
- Experience balancing transactions, reconciling receipts, or resolving payment discrepancies.
- Strong data-entry, records-management, document-review, and file-retrieval skills.
- Ability to review forms and applications for completeness and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, and electronic document-management systems.
- Strong written communication, proofreading, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn specialized Government land, mineral, case-recordation, collection, and billing systems.
- Sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work onsite throughout the required schedule.
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry materials weighing up to approximately 60 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Experience
Candidates will receive additional consideration for experience involving:
- Federal, state, county, or municipal government operations.
- Title companies, escrow offices, county recorder or treasurer offices, public-records departments, or land-management agencies.
- Deeds, legal descriptions, land patents, mining claims, title records, property records, water rights, leases, permits, or case files.
- Real estate, natural resources, mining, environmental permitting, or land-use matters.
- SharePoint, LR2000, BLM records systems, Government billing systems, or comparable platforms.
- Current or previous Federal PIV credentials.
- Government-regulated records, payments, or document-control procedures.

The successful specialist will:
- Provide courteous and responsive service to customers and Government personnel.
- Consistently produce accurate records, reports, correspondence, and data entries.
- Process and reconcile financial transactions accurately.
- Complete assigned work by established deadlines.
- Protect Government information, funds, records, equipment, access cards, and facilities.
- Maintain professionalism and clearly identify as a contractor when interacting with the public and Government personnel.
Credentialing Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Department of the Interior’s suitability and Personal Identity Verification process. This may include:
- Completion of an SF-85 or SF-85P.
- Completion of an OF-306.
- Fingerprinting and a National Criminal History Check.
- Authorization to review credit-related information when required.
- Compliance with all Government security, privacy, records, and facility-access requirements.
This position requires suitability screening and PIV credentialing; it does not currently require a Secret security clearance.
