About the Opportunity
As our firm continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an exceptional Senior Transactional Tax Attorney to join our Advanced Tax Strategies (ATS) group in the Dallas (Southlake Area) office.
This is a high-impact, leadership-level role for an attorney with deep, hands-on experience designing and implementing sophisticated tax strategies for entrepreneurs, closely held businesses, and high-net-worth individuals.
You will play a key role in shaping complex transactions, working closely with corporate teams, and leading client engagements from initial structuring through final implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Transactional Tax Planning & Drafting
- Lead the design and execution of high-value tax planning strategies, including:
- Tax-free mergers and acquisitions and restructurings
- Multi-tier corporate and partnership structures
- Complex partnership agreements (including profits interests)
- Section 1202 QSBS planning and memoranda
- Corporate conversions, reorganizations, and recapitalizations
- Translate high-level strategies into actionable, step-by-step implementation plans
- Ensure alignment and execution across multi-party transactions
Client Strategy & Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary client contact for advanced tax matters
- Clearly communicate complex tax concepts in practical terms
- Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external advisors
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships
Coordination & Mentorship
- Lead coordination across clients, advisors, and internal teams
- Oversee execution and maintain high performance standards
- Mentor junior and mid-level attorneys and staff
- Foster strong relationships with external advisors
Growth & Leadership
- Contribute to scaling a nationally recognized tax planning platform
- Participate in regional expansion initiatives
- Help shape team structure and hiring decisions
- Opportunity for advancement into practice group leadership
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Deep, hands-on experience in transactional tax planning and drafting
- Ability to operate independently with accountability
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Professional presence in both client-facing and internal settings
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-party transactions with composure
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- LL.M. in Taxation strongly preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of post-JD tax experience with significant drafting responsibility
- Experience in Big 4 or accounting firms welcomed (must include planning/implementation)
- Compliance-only backgrounds are not a fit
